“Be Wise; focus on the future with education.”
Whoo Gives a Hoot about Education? DAR gives a Hoot!

We give a hoot for education and wisely offer support for our State Regent’s Project at KDS. So how else can chapters help the DAR Schools and learn more about them? Ideas offered by the wisest owl Sally Bueno, NSDAR DAR Schools Chairman, and by chapters reporting on the CMR (Chapter Master Report):

  • HOOT! HOOT! HOOT! Report chapter activity on the Master Questionnaire.
  • VIEW the webinar on the NSDAR School Web Site. See links below.
  • SEND labels, box tops, and thrift items directly to participating schools. Out-of-state members can donate boxtops, UPC labels, clothing etc. See the handy chart on the website. Record on the CMR (eMasterQuestionnaire & Chapter Ahievement combination).
  • CONTRIBUTE a minimum of $200 to the Friends of DAR Schools Fund and purchase the Hamilton Jewelers “Friends of DAR Schools” pin to wear on your official DAR ribbon. Use form DEV-1003 to make this contribution.
  • SPONSOR a special project to benefit the DAR schools such as KDS or the Iowa building at Tamassee.
  • LEARN more about one school each meeting until all 6 schools have been studied.
  • VISIT the schools electronically. Website addresses are listed in the NSDAR Directory, on the DAR School Committee Webpage at http://members.dar.org/committees/school/index.htm and in the new DAR Schools booklet available at The DAR Store.
  • CREATE a display about each of the schools.
  • PASS the little red school house or the yellow bus or a hat and collect money for a special project at a school.
  • BUY a 3 Wise Owls pin for $25. State Chairman has seven left. See above.
  • ATTEND the School Supper at Continental Congress and see school representatives and children from the schools.
  • VISIT the DAR Schools during special times or activities or any time you are in the neighborhood.
  • TEACH members with a School Minute.
  • GIVE a school quiz. Without cheating who can name all 6 Schools supported by DAR?
  • INVITE your state chairman to speak about DAR schools. Plan well ahead of time!!!
  • USE the DAR School website and DAR School Book as resources.
  • PLAN your gifts to the schools by contacting the Office of Development at NSDAR headquarters.
  • ENJOY a school lunch at a meeting. (Do you know what is served for lunch at schools and how much a meal costs students?) Charge members that amount and donate the money to the DAR schools.
  • CHAPTER ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS •••DEADLINE for NSDAR and ISDAR is February 1, 2016.

MONETARY CONTRIBUTIONS SENT DIRECTLY TO THE SCHOOL •FUNDS for a specific school should be sent directly to the school. •DONATE money for a school in memory or honor of a member or other individual.

MONETARY CONTRIBUTIONS NOT SENT DIRECTLY TO THE SCHOOLS •NOTE guidelines from NSDAR to the DAR Schools.
