NSDAR Scholarship Awards

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution offers 26 different scholarships to students attending, or planning to attend, accredited colleges or universities in the United States. These scholarships are awarded annually to undergraduate, graduate and professional degree candidates.

For detailed information, applicants should access the NSDAR website: http://www.dar.org/scholarship. All applications are submitted using the online portal which opens November 1, 2021. Emailed and mailed applications are not accepted. Chapter endorsement of an applicant is no longer required. The application portal closes January 31, 2022.

The DAR Scholarship Committee does not process DAR Good Citizens, American Indian, or DAR School scholarships.

ISDAR Scholarship Award

The Iowa Society Daughters of the American Revolution administers its own scholarship award for graduating high school students who plan to attend an Iowa technical school, college or university. The amount of the award varies depending on return on investments in the Endowment Trust.

The scholarship fund is intended to assist worthy young people to complete a higher education. The applicant must be an American citizen, an Iowa resident and be of good character. An applicants must:

  1. Plan on attending an Iowa technical school, college university
  2. Have minimum grade point of 3.0
  3. Show merit and financial need
  4. Be recommended by the Chapter Regent (each ISDAR chapter may nominate only one student)
  5. Be postmarked by 2/1/2022
Note: Should the Iowa Scholarship winner fail to enter an Iowa school the Scholarship will be withdrawn.

Amelia Jenks Bloomer Scholarship

This is a $1000.00 scholarship to be paid from the ISDAR General Fund, in Ms. Bloomer's memory. She was a suffragist and active in obtaining the women's vote 100 years ago. The Amelia Jenks Bloomer Scholarship will use the same criteria as the annual ISDAR Scholarship Award. It is intended to help a needy Iowa student in obtaining a higher education.
