As you know, July 4, 2026 brings the 250th
anniversary of the signing of the Declaration
of Independence, marking the formal founding
of the United States and DAR is preparing to
celebrate at the local and national level.

NSDAR was the first heritage society
to formally partner with America 250
Commission and is a leader in the
national effort to coordinate the 250th
commemoration. DAR Honorary President
General Lynn Forney Young serves on the
Semiquincentennial Commission. See the

The State Historical Society of Iowa
is the organizing commission for Iowa's
America 250 efforts. This will involve
celebrations in all parts of the state.
