DAR Magazine Goals During the Storage Administration

DAR Magazine
  • Commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America with intention and purpose in the pages of American Spirit. Stories should reflect on the values of liberty, democracy and the sacrifices made by those who came before us.
  • Commemorate the National Society’s unique contributions to the American story by documenting the efforts of states and chapters for posterity through the Daughters newsletter.
  • Tell member stories that celebrate the distinct qualities and perspectives of DAR members.
  • Support the goal of increased membership recruitment and retention by showcasing the many ways in which DAR membership benefits women as they serve their communities in pursuit of the DAR mission of historic preservation, education and patriotism.
  • Promote enhanced subscriber engagement with American Spirit and the Daughters newsletter.

With the Chapters Submissions

Illuminate Our Legacy through storytelling by contributing to our very own award-winning magazine! Consider celebrating your successes by submitting information releases to the Daughters newsletter. A great way to share the information is through the "With the Chapters" feature of the Daughters newsletter, and the submission of articles of interest is always encouraged. High-quality photographs, especially those that are action shots, are particularly helpful.

Each chapter may publish ONE ARTICLE PER CALENDAR YEAR. For each submission, chapters will submit Form DNL-1003, found on the NSDAR Members Site and a minimal fee of $30 payable to the Treasurer General, NSDAR, and mail these items to: DAR Magazine Office, NSDAR, 1776 D Street NW, Washington D.C. 20006-5303. Articles are limited to 200 words and may be edited for space, clarity, and style.

Remember, issues are produced several months in advance. Please adhere to the following deadlines:

January/February—November 1
March/April—January 1
May/June—March 1
July/August—May 1
September/October—July 1
