Lineage Research
Stephanie Caffrey, Chairman
The Lineage Research Committee is here to
assist you with documentation to complete
applications or help you with “have written”
or AIR letters. As State Lineage Research
Committee Chairman, please call or email me
and I will try to help you with your questions
and research.
Iowa Society State Directory has a list
of Volunteer Researchers who are members of
the Lineage Research Committee and are ready
to assist you with research questions.
Additional members are also available to
assist.
The National Lineage Research Committee
encourages chapters to hold at least one
public prospective member workshop annually
and to work with the Chapter Development and
Revitalization Commission (or Action Five
Committee as we refer to them in Iowa), as
they can help you organize, promote and
present a workshop for your Chapter.
Make use of the NSDAR Members' Web Site –
- “Applications and Supplementals” has so
much information - including an instruction
booklet which you can download on
Applications and how to prepare them and the
site also answers a lot of your questions
about record copies, etc.
- The Lineage Research Committee site has a
list of free and fee based sites for
genealogical research. Check out all the
Lineage Research Committee sites listed for
more helpful tips.
- Additional help tips are often given on
the various related Facebook Groups for
Applications, Supplications and Lineage
Research.
- Please check out all available resources.
Remember we are now also accepting
Applications online, so encourage your
prospective members to use this tool.
Contact me if you need help to find
sources or have lineage questions as you work
on membership applications. Remember when
completing your Master Report, be sure to ask
your members if they have attended a workshop,
if they are a look-up volunteer or if they
have been contacted for help.
