Congratulations and welcome to the National Society Daughters of the
American Revolution and the ____________ Chapter! We are delighted that
you have chosen to join our chapter. Your membership is instrumental in
accomplishing our society's objectives. As you know, DAR is a dedicated
patriotic service organization and our objectives are historic
preservation, education, and patriotism.
We encourage you to attend our meetings, read the DAR Newsletter and
award-winning magazine, American Spirit, and browse through our website
to learn even more about all the endeavors and accomplishments of DAR.
Our National Members’ website is http://members.dar.org and the Iowa
state members’ website is www.isdar.org/members. We have
committees such as American Heritage, American Indians, Conservation,
DAR Good Citizens, DAR Service for Veterans, The Flag of the United
States of America, Lineage Research, Genealogical Records, Membership
and Public Relations, just to name a few. I hope there is a committee
where you would like to volunteer. Please let me know of your interest
because we are always looking for bright and energetic volunteers.
From the enclosures, you can become even more familiar with the inner
workings of our Society. Our chapter is one of (# of chapters in your
state) in the state and one out of approximately 3000 chapters
throughout the United States and overseas. We usually meet (state
meeting schedules) unless otherwise noted. We welcome you to attend the
Iowa State Conference held in the month of April/May each year, and you
are most welcome to attend Continental Congress held in Washington
D.C., each year in the summer. Our historic NSDAR buildings are very
beautiful, and it is a thrill to be with members from all over the
United States and foreign countries. Please contact me for more details
if you are interested.
The Chapter Registrar will be providing you with a copy of your
verified application. Please be sure to review your approved
application as soon as possible. You have six months from the date your
application was verified to address any possible errors with the
Corrections Genealogist.
We will do our best to help you become a productive and informed member
of our chapter and of the National Society. If you have any questions,
please feel free to ask me or any one of our members.
