Membership in the Daughters
of the American Revolution (DAR) honors
and preserves the legacy of your patriot
ancestor. Over two hundred years ago,
American patriots fought and sacrificed
for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a
member of DAR, through participation in
the Society's various programs and
activities, you can continue this legacy
by actively supporting historic
preservation, promotion of education, and
patriotic endeavor.
DAR members are educators,
students, professionals, mothers,
historians, genealogists, and homemakers
who take an active role in their
communities promoting our objectives of
patriotism, education, and historic
preservation. With almost 3,000 chapters
throughout the world, and nearly 180,000
members, we are one of the largest women's
organizations in the world.
Membership in DAR offers a
number of benefits, including:
-
Promoting
American history throughout
the year by honoring
historically significant
people, places, dates, and
events.
-
Participating
in commemorative events such
as Flag Day, Veterans Day, and
the 4th of July.
-
Engaging
in meaningful service projects
in the community.
-
Supporting
the Constitution of the United
States of America, patriotism,
and the military men and women
who serve the nation.
-
Building
your network, developing
friendships, and maybe finding
"cousins" among our members.
-
Challenging
yourself to build leadership
skills by taking on
responsibilities at chapter,
state, and national levels.
