All current and prospective members of DAR, and
guests, are invited to attend our meetings. The
Council Bluffs Chapter, NSDAR, has members from
14 states, Canada and western Iowa; including
Pottawattamie, Cass and Harrison counties.
Guest speakers, as well as chapter members,
provide interesting programs relating to a wide
variety of subjects. The Council Bluffs Chapter,
NSDAR, honors the winners of the DAR Good
Citizens Awards and Scholarships, American
History Essay Contests, Outstanding American
History Teacher Contest, and Community Service
Awards. The chapter strives to support historic
preservation, promote education, and foster
patriotism.
Our chapter meetings are held January to May
and August to October. Although we do not have
formal meetings during these months, our chapter
members are active in community events such as
Wreaths Across America and events at the
Historic Dodge House in Council Bluffs. We
participate in local parades, where George
Washington and Betsy Ross have been known to
make an appearance, and join with other DAR
chapters in Iowa and Nebraska to hold special
events.
As we have members from three southwestern
counties, we try to schedule meetings in each
area for the convenience of our members, and
also arrange for members who are unable to
attend to participate via Zoom.
If you are interested in attending a meeting,
please contact
us.
