Chapters,
Take Action!
Kate Duncan Smith( KDS) DAR
school is celebrating a 100 year
anniversary with a special
campus commons project. A
separate flyer is attached
describing the project. It
would be awesome to have our
Iowa Society recognized as a
sponsor for this project. Please
consider giving a minimum of
$1.00 per member for toward this
project. Please send a separate
chapter check with the memo KDS
to our State Treasurer by 2023
State Conference. (April 6th).
This will ensure recognition of
our contribution to the KDS DAR
School Centennial Campus
Commons. Of course, members may
give more or individually if
they choose. |

This video showcases the goal of the
school to keep the folkart heritage of the
Appalachian Mountain people alive. The school
is more than a school, but a community center
for the art and music of the region. In
addition, it particularly helps students with
dyslexia. And today, it has taken up
curriculum called Foodways teaching students
and their families about growing, preserving
and cooking while partnering with local
agriculture.
