JOINING DAR:
Membership in the Daughters of the American
Revolution (DAR) honors and preserves the
legacy of your patriot ancestor. Over two
hundred years ago, American patriots fought
and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy
today. As a member of DAR, through
participation in the National Society’s
various programs and activities, you can
continue this legacy by actively supporting
historic preservation, promotion of education,
and patriotic endeavor.
DAR members are educators, students,
professionals, mothers, historians,
genealogists, and homemakers who continue this
legacy. They play an active role in their
communities, promoting the NSDAR objectives of
patriotism, education, and historic
preservation. With about 3,000 chapters
throughout the world, and with over 185,000
members, we are one of the largest women's
service organizations in the world.
Membership in DAR offers a number of benefits,
including:
Any woman is eligible for membership who is no
less than eighteen years of age and can prove
lineal descent from an ancestor who aided in
achieving American independence. She must
provide documentation for each statement of
birth, marriage, and death.
