The
Camp Dodge Chapter has accomplished a great
deal during its first three years! We grew
from 15 members to 47 members and 4 associate
members. We participated in many patriotic
parades and events. We volunteered at the Iowa
Gold Star Military Museum on Memorial Day. We
plant red, white and blue flowers and give
away plants to visitors; we serve a free
breakfast; we represent DAR at an information
table; we help at the children’s craft table;
and do whatever we are asked to do!
|
We cleaned headstones and
planted flowers at the Polk City Cemetery.
|
|

We recognized, welcomed and
served veterans and their families at military
events.
|
We recognized individuals with Community
Service and Citizenship Awards. The “Cooking
With The Daughters” cookbook was produced and
printed as a fund raiser. The cookbook
contains recipes AND pictures and information
about the chapter’s charter members. A
stunning quilt, with all charter members’
names embroidered upon it, was designed and
made.

We enjoy many wonderful teas, picnics and
meals together.

In October of 2025, the Camp Dodge Chapter,
NSDAR, hosted the Traveling Exhibit “American
Revolution Experience” at the Iowa Gold Star
Military Museum. Dressed in 1776 attire, we
welcomed visitors and shared the history of
our nation’s founding -- 250 years ago.

Our beautiful charter was prepared by the
NSDAR and was exquisitely framed. It is now on
display in the Education Room at the Iowa Gold
Star Military Museum at Camp Dodge.

The Captain Peter Ankeny Society, Children of
the American Revolution, was organized and
sponsored by the Camp Dodge Chapter. The society
created the history book exchange library. It is
located on the grounds of the Ankeny Area
Historical Society Museum. |
